New York Legislator Calls For Misguided Tax on Vaping

New York State Senator David Carlucci announced new legislation to enact a tax on e-liquids used in an electronic cigarettes. New York State does not currently tax e-liquids.

The proposed legislation calls for a tax of 25 cents per milliliter. This new tax revenue will benefit the same programs already receiving money from current tobacco taxes. This latest tax proposal is yet the latest example of states lumping vaping in with tobacco products.
